6 Last Minute Easter Script Ideas

Looking to add some live drama to your Easter Service? Here is a list of our best-selling Easter skits that you can perform Reader's Theatre style, which doesn't require blocking or memorizing of lines. With Reader's Theatre, you can keep the script in front of you either on a music stand or in a black note book. We hope you find this list helpful and that it adds to the telling of Christ's sacrifice and resurrection in your Easter service. See our entire collection of Easter scripts.

In this Readers Theater, audiences are led to focus on the phrase Jesus cried out on the cross, exclaiming that "it is finished," and how those words impact our lives as Christians.

John 20 is retold through the eyes of Mary Magdalene, Peter, and Thomas.

With their hopes dashed, the disciples are hiding out together in a house in Jerusalem after the crucifixion. Terrified and unsure what to do, they plan to head back to Galilee under the cover of night to avoid arrest. But then Mary Magdalene comes with news that’s too good to be true: The tomb is empty. Either Jesus is alive, or Mary’s gone crazy.

Several characters surrounding the cross relive the events leading up to the crucifixion. This script can be performed as a Readers Theatre. There are 6 different characters, but they can be played by as few as two people. See The Skit Guys video of 'Good Friday' below.

Don't have the preparation time, massive cast of actors, or camel rental budget for a huge Easter production this year? We've got the solution: a hybrid between a Readers' Theatre and a Script that will help you present the Greatest Story Ever Told. The powerful story of Christ's death on the cross and the events leading up to his ultimate sacrifice.

This script is three readings- Christ's death, His resurrection, and our response to the Living Lord. This script is perfect for incorporating into your Easter morning worship service.
