Fatherhood is often described by tough words like provider, leader, and strength. The soft, tender words like nurturer, caring, and kind are usually reserved for moms. We thank fathers for the work they did, the instruction they gave, the stuff they provided. And while this isn’t wrong, it surely isn’t complete.

Yes, even though the church has done amazing acts of love over the centuries, we seem to have a fairly negative image in our current world. Some of that should not be surprising as Jesus warns us that we will be persecuted. However, much of our bad rap is brought on by our own errors.
