Be Bold: Share Jesus

Read: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes…” Romans 1:16a

Think: One morning I was reading the back of my cereal box and didn't know if I was eating cereal or joining a cult. Here's what it said: "Word spreads quickly around here... At the Post Cereal Company, we have caught the contagious crunch of Honey Bunches of Oats. Everybody is talking about the delicious fun that is too good to keep to yourself. Keep eating the cereal that makes you want to share and you too will be spreading the word around and around." (No joke. This is what it said.)

I was a bit skeptical at first, but then I tried it. I partook of the "contagious crunch," and you know what? It was incredible. I was inspired, enlightened, and changed. My first thought was, "Everyone must try this stuff! Who can I tell?" I went to the neighbor on my left and knocked on their door. They laughed in my face. Oh well, maybe my other neighbor would listen. She said that they eat Cheerios and that they didn’t need to change.

Who will try these Honey Bunches of Oats? The world must know! I will not stop preaching the good news of these nut clusters, with three different flakes coated with the sweet taste of honey. It is too good to keep to myself. I must share. I have caught the contagious crunch!

It is too bad that we are often more inspired to share our favorite cereal than we are the life-changing power of the gospel. Why? If it is because we are afraid, pray for boldness. If it is because we don’t know anyone with whom to share, look for opportunity. If it because we don’t know how to start a spiritual conversation, try this: “Hey, I was wondering what church you go to?” If it is because we don’t realize how life-changing the gospel is, it is time to reevaluate.

Ask: When was the last time I shared Jesus with someone? Am I prepared to share the gospel if someone asks? Do I truly believe that Jesus Christ is the answer to life’s fundamental questions?

Pray: Father, I thank you for sending Your Son to save me from my sin and rescue me from darkness. I believe that Your gospel is salvation. Give me the boldness to share the good news with those around me. Amen
