Who doesn’t love to be comfortable? We devote our time, money, and energy keeping it that way. If it’s hot in the summer I turn on the AC. If it’s cold in the winter I crank up the heat, lest I begin to feel uncomfortable. My closest friends tend to be those I feel the most comfortable around. And there’s nothing wrong with being comfortable—the problem is when we become too comfortable. God didn’t create us just to be comfortable. He calls us to live for something much bigger.
Who doesn’t remember where they were when they heard America was under attack? Or when they first saw the footage of the planes flying into the twin towers? We were shocked, confused, vulnerable, and eventually angry. No longer isolated to other parts of the world, terrorism brought itself to our front door. As a nation, we were changed. “It’s not your story; it’s God’s story.” We should wake up every morning reminding ourselves of this truth. It’s so easy to get caught up in trying to control our circumstances to avoid the potential dangers of this world. Joseph wasn’t perfect, but he understood God’s sovereignty and submitted himself to God’s will.
This September 11th marks the 10th Anniversary of the tragedy of 9/11. With this anniversary falling on a Sunday, many of you have asked if we could put together a video that could be shown during church services in order to honor the day and its remembrances.
