Tracy Wells

Tracy has loved seeing stories come to life on stage for as long as she can remember. In high school, she was able to tread the boards herself in a few starring roles. Alas, like her character in A Chorus Line, Kristine, she couldn’t really sing, so she learned the value of a great non-musical script and the way that a play can touch the lives of an audience through the writers’ words and the what the actor brings to the stage.

It wasn’t until settling into motherhood that Tracy tried her hand at writing. Her husband Eric is a middle school and high school theater director and he needed large cast plays to use with his students. After writing an adaptation of O. Henry’s, “The Gift of the Magi”, Tracy decided to send it in for publication. Thus, a new career in playwriting was born. Tracy now has nearly one hundred published plays with a number of publishers that have been produced across the U.S. and internationally. At first, Tracy exclusively wrote plays for the middle/high school and amateur market, but when her family began attending a local church in need of a drama ministry, Tracy and her husband stepped in. Now in addition to her secular work, Tracy writes one act and full length plays as well as skits that can be used in children’s worship or as a holiday program. Tracy continues to write plays for the youth and Christian market and resides with her husband and two children in Metro Detroit.
