Mary Magdalene was filled with distress when she discovered the empty tomb on that first Easter morning. Empty often feels like disappointment, but the empty tomb on Easter Sunday was filled with hope for the world. An empty tomb became a resurrection miracle. When we feel isolated and alone, our emptiness leaves plenty of room for Jesus to enter.

At the Last Supper, Jesus was essentially saying goodbye to His disciples, but He never actually said that word. He knew he’d see them again in three days, and for eternity in Heaven. This script invites us into the promise, that Jesus would return as our Savior and cleanse us from our sins.

What does it mean for Jesus to enter the emptiness of our lives? This reader’s theatre explores the ways we try to fill the empty hole in our hearts and reminds us that Jesus entered that space with His resurrection power, filling us with eternal hope and life.

That first Palm Sunday was a day of celebrating what is, with no idea of what’s to come. People cheered for Jesus —a good teacher, a divine prophet, and a miracle worker. But they couldn’t imagine that He would be the fulfillment of a prophecy, heal sin, and show the world what love truly is.
